From Inner to Outer of a Chiu Chow Family 

In our project, we wish to form a peripheral understanding towards the linguistic features of a Chiu Chow family and the wider context of the Chiu Chow community in Hong Kong. 

 

Inner - understanding the intrinsic language and linguistic features, practices, and attitudes reflected within the family and how it impacts their identity construction across generations 

 

Outer - given the unique background of the family, we then also wish to look into the role of their family owned Chiu Chow restaurant, in facilitating and maintaining the Chiu Chow language and identity for the family as well as the wider Chiu Chow community in Hong Kong

Kung Fu Tea is a special tea brewing method, unique to the Chiu Chowese cuisine. It emphasises greatly on brewing etiquette and usually uses small sized tea cups. 

A Cantonese colloquial term referring to Chiu Chownese food or Chiu Chow restaurants. However, in Chiu Chownese, the phrase with the same pronunciation means to hit or to fight someone.
